HP printer troubleshooting issues

Ghost jams and paper jams

If your printer says that there is a paper jam inside it, then there must be a couple of reasons behind the issue. Sometimes your printer may tell you that there’s a paper jam when there’s actually not. In that case, there are chances of a mechanical fault in your printer. Make sure you do not smash your printer in a field after getting furious. Follow the steps given below:

  1. Remove the rear duplexer from your printer and grip any of the four rollers. If they don’t, go to the next step.
  2. After that, touch two of the brass contact point with a clip as it would make your printer think the duplexer is still there. You need to maintain this contact all the way through the final step.
  3. Now, press OK on the control panel and look at the white plastic gears on your printer’s left side.
  4. Check if these plastic gears move freely or if they freeze in between. If they are jamming, it means you have paper shards.
  5. Remove paper shards from the gear teeth and make sure the rollers and gears move freely.
  6. If you still see the paper jam issue, you need to reset your printer in order to reset the sensors.
